The Coolest Person is a playful novelty website. Buy a temporary place in the spotlight and your name becomes the answer to “Who is the coolest person in the world?” on this site. It’s for fun, not an award or a real-world ranking.

How to claim the spot

1. Check the current spot price and availability.
2. Enter a name or nickname of up to 30 characters. Country is optional and appears publicly if selected.
3. Choose no protection or 1, 8, or 24 hours of protection, then complete the one-time Stripe checkout. No site account is required.
4. Once payment is verified, your name takes the spot. With protection, the countdown shows how long remains before someone else can buy it.

How much does it cost?

The starting base price is $1.00 USD. Every successful claim raises the next base price by $0.01. The homepage shows the current price; the original starting price may no longer be available.

Optional protection costs 25% of the current base price for 1 hour, 50% for 8 hours, or 100% for 24 hours. The surcharge is rounded to the nearest cent and added to the base price. Protection does not change the one-cent base-price increase.

What happens when protection runs out?

Your name stays visible until the next successful paid claim. The purchase button becomes available again when the timer reaches zero.

Can someone buy the spot while it is protected?

No. Purchases are blocked until protection ends. Checkout can also briefly reserve an available spot while someone pays.

What if I buy without protection?

Your name appears after payment is verified, but someone else can replace it with their next paid claim. There is no guaranteed minimum display time.

Refund and display policy

All sales are final once your name is displayed. Being replaced by another buyer does not qualify for a refund. Without purchased protection, there is no minimum display time. Exceptions apply to duplicate charges, failure to deliver the purchased service, and refunds required by law.

We keep purchase records, policy acceptance, and the times your spot starts and is replaced to resolve payment questions. These records do not contain your card details.

Is this a subscription?

No. Each claim is a single payment. There is no recurring subscription.

Do I have to share my country?

No. Choose “Don’t show a country” to show only your name. If you select a country, it will appear publicly beneath your name.

What names can I use?

Use a name or nickname, not links, hateful content, or impersonation. Abusive names may be removed.
